When we have positivity, we might think positive, have positive emotions, and do positive things as opposed to negative things.  Just like kindness, being positive is contagious.  Being around people who are positive makes us feel good and helps us switch our points of view to the positive.

Positivity can lead to better mental health and well-being and reduce the illnesses associated with stress.  Future-oriented positivity can also be powerful.  Optimism can lead to better social relationships and the improve your ability to achieve your goals.

Here are some examples to help you use the power of positivity in your life.

  • Self-oriented positivity: “I’m a good person.”
  • Other-oriented positivity: “My friends aren’t perfect, but they are there for me when I need them.”
  • Gratitude: “I’m so lucky to have such a great husband.”
  • Paying attention to the positive: “That movie was so cool.”
  • Savoring: “That vacation last year was so relaxing.”
  • Future-oriented positivity: “I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving this year.”

During our 2025 Positive Comment Challenge we are asking people to give themselves a positive comment every day, give someone in your life a positive comment every day, and make a positive comment about your community once a week.  For complete details and ideas to get you started visited our page on this site.
