Bargain Shopping Tips
- Before shopping, review the sale advertisements and take advantage of store apps.
- Purchase extra quantities of foods you use often when they are on sale.
- Make a list of all the items you need to prepare meals for a week and make one trip to the store. You will spend less because there will be fewer impulse purchases.
- Avoid the Chip, Cookie and Soda aisles as those foods do not keep you full for very long and can be expensive.
- Frozen vegetables are an excellent choice to avoid food waste. You can cook just what you can eat.
- Beans and Lentils are an inexpensive protein choice and can be served alone, as a side dish, or added to a casserole. Prepare extra and freeze for future use.
- Compare the unit price for different size containers of the same product. Go for the size with the lowest unit price.
- Shop the store brands as they are often less expensive.
