Effective Strategies to Reduce Daily Stress

During this episode of Health IQ, we talked about a form of research called a “Studio.”  A studio differs from focus groups in that it has a bi-directional discussion and is used to inform research or further action. Participant comments and recommendation are summarized instead of analyzed. Also everyone in the studio is viewed as an expert and everyone is highly encouraged to share their perspectives and opinions.  The result of a studio is an infographic summarizing the answers to the questions.  Here is our infographic

Some of the tips shared during the podcast includes the importance of learning how to self-sooth.    As new parents we often help our babies learn to self-sooth but giving them time alone (in a safe place like a crib) to fuss a little.  We may help them with a comfort item like a blanket or stuff animal.  Sometimes a bedtime routine and then being left in their crib while still awake will help them learn to self-sooth.  As young people and adults, we will need to try other techniques.  Sometimes it is finding a quiet place to take a pause.  Use some grounding technique.  Ease your mind by easing your body with water, healthy snack, or a walk.

Fill in the blanks on these questions with positive statements about yourself.  When you are facing a stressful event, repeat them to yourself.  Reminding yourself of these statements would also be a good way to start your day.

I am __________

I can ____________

I have ____________

I will _____________

I believe ____________

Another good way to set your mind on a good track is to start your day by pushing out the negative thoughts with a statement or belief that You are going to have a good day.

There are many more great tidbits in this podcast, so it is worth a listen. Say Hello To Your Little Friends Anxiety
