An outreach office of NMSU providing research-based information and educational programs. Adult programs focus on needs of farmers and ranchers, lawn and garden, nutrition and healthy food preparation, financial management, food safety and preservation, and improved family life. School based programs focus on introducing youth to various forms of agriculture and keeping food safe. The 4-H program is for youth 5 to 19 years old. Youth enrolled in 4-H learn by doing and have the opportunity to choose from 100 hands on projects. Though project completion and competition, youth learn decision making and speaking skills. In their clubs they learn leadership and citizenship. 4-H is a family affair and parents learn as much as their children. There are many volunteer opportunities with the Extension Service and 4-H program. The Extension Association of QC is a volunteer organization that helps extend the educational and community service into the communities while members do community service work and build leadership skills.
